It was learned from the Intellectual Property Office that on May 5, the Hague Agreement on the International Registration of Industrial Designs, an important business system in the field of international industrial property rights, came into effect in my country. The Intellectual Property Office has drawn up a complete set of connection plans, trained examiners and conducted mock examinations to ensure the connection of relevant examination services.

my country is a big country in industrial design, and design protection is very important. The Hague Agreement on the International Registration of Industrial Designs is an important international intellectual property treaty managed by the World Intellectual Property Organization. Joining this agreement will help my country to actively integrate into the design globalization system, promote the improvement of industrial design innovation capabilities, and help China's creativity , Chinese design, and Chinese manufacturing to the world, play an important role in promoting my country's deep participation in global intellectual property governance under the framework of the World Intellectual Property Organization.

According to the agreement, applicants only need to submit one international application to seek protection of designs in relevant contracting parties, which can greatly facilitate applicants, improve registration efficiency, and reduce registration costs.

Shen Changyu, director of the Intellectual Property Office, introduced that the Intellectual Property Office will revise the implementation rules and examination guidelines of the Patent Law to provide legal protection for the implementation of the agreement. Since the agreement is quite different from domestic business rules, the Intellectual Property Office has drawn up a complete set of connection plans, trained examiners, carried out mock examinations, and maintained good business communication with the World Intellectual Property Organization to facilitate the connection of relevant examination services.

In the next step, the Intellectual Property Office will hold a special seminar to comprehensively introduce the Hague System to domestic and foreign innovators and agencies, enhance the public’s understanding of the Hague System, and promote domestic and foreign applicants to submit design applications through the Hague System to better protect their own Innovate and create more excellent designs for the world.
